John Bugalla is Principal of ERM Consulting based in Indianapolis and a senior consultant with Strategic Decisions Group based in Palo Alto. Both firms provide strategy and enterprise risk management (ERM) consulting services to Global 2000 companies. He specializes in ERM strategy development and implementation. He advises senior management and boards in utilizing ERM to create new measurable value, competitive advantage, reduce volatility, and enhance corporate governance.
Mr. Bugalla serves as the lead ERM program creator and developer for the Risk and Insurance Management Society and leads the School of Advanced Risk Management for the Credit Union Executive Society. He also teaches the Enterprise Risk Management (ARM-e) program on behalf of the American Institute CPCU.
He was Managing Director at Willis during which time he founded their ERM group. At Willis he led the team that designed and implemented the break-through Enterprise Risk Management program for United Grain Growers which is credited with increasing cash flow, improving the debt rating and increasing the stock valuation by 20%. The program was hailed in CFO Magazine (June 2000) as the "deal of the decade". The ERM program became a Harvard Business School case study. Mr. Bugalla joined with the CEO of UGG to teach the ERM case study to the Harvard MBA class.
