It makes sense to figure out the kind of program that allows you to learn best and attend it. If it's a BarCamp Bank, do it. If it's a traditional conference, go. If it's a workshop, so be it. Retirement: Steven L. Dahlstrom, president/CEO of $1.3 billion/88,000-member Spokane Teachers Credit Union, will retired effective Jan. 1, 2011. Thomas A. Johnson has been named the new CEO. Johnson formerly served as VP/administration.
Recognized: $600 million/66,000-member Bay Federal Credit Union, Capitola, Calif., has received the 2010 Governor and First Lady's Medals for Service award in recognition of the CU’s outstanding community support efforts.
People Helping People: The Cares Foundation, the charitable arm of $847 million/73,000-member Capital Communications Federal Credit Union, Albany, N.Y., recently raised $55,000 via its annual Big Benefit Raffle to help bolster the foundation’s commitment to local organizations and charities.
Merger: Ascentra Credit Union, Bettendorf, Iowa, and Members Choice Community Credit Union, Clinton, Iowa, have completed their merger. The combined credit union retained the Ascentra name and will have about $245 million in assets, including $190 million from Ascentra CU and $55 million from Members Choice CU. Together, they have about 29,500 members.
