CUES FYI June 29, 2010: On Compliance: Overdraft Opt-In

Compliance with Reg E’s opt-in requirements for ATM/debit overdraft programs is required by July 1. And by Aug. 15, if you don’t comply, you won’t be allowed to charge overdraft fees anymore. Get tips to be ready for Thursday in Credit Union Management’s online-only “On Compliance” column, below.

Also read the online-only “Loan Zone” about the SAFE Act and another article about automating branch cash, all in this week’s issue of CUES FYI.

On Compliance: Don’t Waste the Wiggle Room
Get a solid opt-in for overdraft program in place before the financial penalties hit in earnest.

Automating Branch Cash
Machines that dispense or recycle cash improve the member in-branch experience and support an improved bottom line.

Loan Zone: Mortgage Lender Registry
SAFE Act will require registration of loan officers and lending institutions, probably in 2011.
