Member News:

Event: Sterling Nielsen, CEO of Mountain America Credit Union, West Jordan, Utah, was among representatives from eight other financial institutions to ring The Opening Bell™ at the New York Stock Exchange, April 9. This event helped celebrate NYSE’s Financial Literacy Week, which is held during National Financial Literacy Month.

New Headquarters: SAC Federal Credit Union
, Bellevue, Neb., is planning a new corporate headquarters at the southeast corner of 72nd Street and US Highway 370 in Papillion, Neb. The CU has nine CUES members.

New Position: William Schirmer
has been named president/CEO of Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union, Evansville, Ind., upon the retirement of Michael Phipps. Previously, Schirmer was EVP/chief financial officer at Lake Michigan Credit Union, Grand Rapids, Mich.

Keith Sultemeier is the new president/CEO of Kinecta Federal Credit Union, Manhattan Beach, Calif. Previously he was executive vice president of Security Service Federal Credit Union, San Antonio.

Jim Morrell has been named president/CEO of Peninsula Credit Union, Shelton, Wash., succeeding Steve Gorseth, who will retire in June. Morrell was previously SVP/support services at iQ Credit Union, Vancouver, Wash.
$149 million

David L. Brooks is the new SVP/chief lending officer of ESL Federal Credit Union, Rochester, N.Y. Previously, he was SVP/commercial executive at HSBC Bank.

Merger: $3 million Connecticut Energy Employees Credit Union, Bridgeport, Conn., plans to merge with $234 million Mutual Security Credit Union Inc., Shelton, Conn. Mutual Security CU has one CUES member.

$7.4 billion Alloya Corporate Federal Credit Union, with five CUES members in Warrenville, Ill., and $3 billion Central Corporate Credit Union, with one CUES member in Southfield, Mich., announced that their boards have signed a non-binding letter of intent to merge.

$190 million Pacific Postal Credit Union, San Jose, Calif., will acquire East Bay Postal Credit Union, Oakland, Calif. Pacific Postal CU has one CUES member.

Promotion: SCE Federal Credit Union, Irwindale, Calif., has promoted 30-year financial lending expert Gina Corcoran as its new director of loan production. She will oversee central lending, real estate, direct and indirect dealer relationships. The CU has 29 CUES members as part of its CUES Advancing Management Membership.

Recognition: The Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News Top Workplaces 2012 program recognized TruMark Financial® Credit Union, Trevose, Pa., as one of the top 100 places to work in the Philadelphia region. The credit union ranked No. 3 in the midsize organization category, composed of companies with 150-499 employees. The top employers in each category are based solely on employee survey responses conducted by WorkplaceDynamics, an independent research firm specializing in collecting employee data to help clients retain employees. The CU has one CUES member.

Community Involvement: Mission Federal Credit Union, San Diego, and Clear Channel Radio are excited to announce It’s the Pits Dog & Puppy Rescue as the inaugural winner for the 2012 Mission Possible Charity Challenge. They will receive a $5,000 donation from Mission FCU and on-air exposure on a local Clear Channel station. The CU has one CUES member.
