Community Involvement: Turning Friday the 13th on its head, Lowell, Mass.,-based Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union President/CEO Mark S. Cochran and a number of CU employees handed surprised customers a $5 gift card and a free Jeanne D’Arc T-shirt, during one hour on April 13, telling customers it was their “lucky day.” The CU has six CUES members.
Assisting cash-strapped schools, Texas Trust Credit Union, Mansfield, Texas, has donated more than $60,000 to four area school districts since August 2011 as part of its Spirit Debit Reward program. The schools earn 15 cents every time a Spirit Debit Reward card is used to make a purchase. Cardholder transactions have exceeded 405,000 so far. The CU has 12 CUES members.
Jasmine Ancira won $500 through a program developed by Security Service Federal Credit Union, San Antonio, that encourages students to go through a financial reality check, then write about their plans to be financially stable adults. Ancira is a graduating senior who plans to pursue a career in the financial industry. The CU has five CUES members.
