Member News:

Elected: Terry Laudick, president/CEO of $1.1 billion New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union, Albuquerque, N.M., has been elected to a one-year term as chairman of CO-OP Financial Services, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., a CUES Supplier member. The 11-member board also elected three other members to officer positions:

•    Doug Ferraro, president/CEO, Bellco Credit Union, Greenwood, Colo.—vice chairman/chairman-elect;
•    Jeff Napper, president/CEO, LBS Financial Credit Union, Westminster, Calif.—treasurer;
•    Allan McMorris, president/CEO, Oakland County Credit Union, Waterford, Mich.—secretary.

In addition, CO-OP Financial Services shareholders re-elected Laudick and two other board members to third and final terms:

•    Rick Craig, president/CEO, America First Credit Union, Riverdale, Utah, and
•    Patsy Van Ouwerkerk, CCE, president/CEO, Travis Credit Union, Vacaville, Calif.

Honored: For the third year in a row, Texas Trust Credit Union, Mansfield, Texas, has received the Focus on Excellence Award for best financial institution. The credit union was voted the winner by readers of Focus Daily News, a daily newspaper with more than 30,000 paid subscribers. The CU has 12 CUES members.

CU Service Network has announced the winners of the 5th Annual Shared Branching Excellence Awards. CUSN participants and partners were recognized for their exceptional work in support of shared branching. Two CUES member CUs were honored:

Greatest Issuer Transaction Growth: UniWyo Federal Credit Union, Laramie, Wyo., grew 124 percent. The CU has one CUES member.

Marketing Excellence Award: $190 million Rio Grande Credit Union, Albuquerque, N.M., won for its “Your Treasure Awaits” shared branching on-boarding campaign. The CU has one CUES member.

New Position: Mazuma Credit Union, Kansas City, Mo., announces the appointment of Matt Monge as its first chief culture officer.  Previously, Monge was VP/people and development at Fort Campbell Federal Credit Union, Clarksville, Tenn.

Community Involvement: Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Bethpage, N.Y., and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation are pleased to announce attendance of almost 400,000 spectators for the 9th Annual Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach over Memorial Day weekend. The CU has five CUES members.

As part of its 75th anniversary celebration, CFE Federal Credit Union, Lake Mary, Fla., sponsored the 2011-2012 Education Guide Art Contest. Students of all grades were invited to submit their artwork. Four first-place winners were awarded $500 each and four second-place winners received $250. The contest theme was “People Helping People,” which offered a wide variety of opportunity for students to show themselves, or someone they know, helping people. The CU has 11 CUES members. 

On May 20, 103 friends, family members and employees of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union, Lowell, Mass., rallied together in support of Lowell General Hospital’s TeamWalk for Cancer Care. The CU has six CUES members.

Langley Federal Credit Union, Newport News, Va., has presented the American Red Cross Hampton Roads Chapter with a $1,000 check for its Heroes Campaign. Staff raised nearly $900 through casual day fundraisers, with the CU contributing the remaining amount. The CU has three CUES members.

OnPoint Community Credit Union, Portland, Ore., named a high school guidance counselor as its Educator of the Year and awarded her a year’s free mortgage and $5,000 in supplies for her school. The CU has seven CUES members.

Management and staff at San Francisco Federal Credit Union helped clean up nearby playgrounds in partnership with the San Francisco Parks Alliance. Chairman Larry Doyle and 22 managers volunteered to revitalize the Alioto Performing Arts Piazza Playground in front of City Hall. Also, 45 employees gathered at the Buchanan Street Mall Playgrounds to clean playground equipment, sift sand, trim bushes and remove weeds from the surrounding flower beds. The CU has nine CUES members.

Supplier Member News: Financial ratings agency A.M. Best affirmed the financial strength rating of CUMIS Insurance Society at "A" (Excellent) and upgraded the financial strength rating of Producers Agriculture Insurance Company to "A" (Excellent). Both are CUNA Mutual Group, Madison, Wis., businesses.
