Anniversary: Alliance Credit Union, San Jose, Calif., is celebrating its 60th anniversary this summer. When adult members refer friends who apply for a loan or line of credit, both receive a $60 gift card. In addition members will be entered to win $1,000 for each loan referred. The CU has 15 CUES members.

Honored: Several CUES-member organizations were honored in NACUSO's 2012 CUSO Collaboration & Innovation Award for CUSOs:
• 2012 NACUSO Collaboration & Innovation CUSO Award Winner: Member Loyalty Group, LLC, Chicago, which has four CUES members.
• 2012 NACUSO Collaboration & Innovation Credit Union Award Winner: Workers' Credit Union, Fitchburg, Mass., which has 40 CUES members. 
• Honorable Mention: Frankenmuth Credit Union, Frankenmuth, Mich., which has two CUES members.
Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., has been named one of the Best Companies to Work For in New York for 2012, one of 24 large (250 or more employees) to be recognized. The CU was honored for the third year in a row by the New York state Society for Human Resource Management and the Best Companies Group. Companies were evaluated on their workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems and demographics. Employees of the nominated companies were asked to complete a survey designed to measure each entity’s employee experience. The CU has two CUES members. 
$3.6 billion
Community Involvement: Boulder Valley Credit Union, Boulder, Colo., has donated $2,500 to CUAid, a disaster relief system through the National Credit Union Foundation to raise money for credit union families affected by disasters. The CU’s funds will specifically assist in relief efforts for victims and families of the dozen plus Colorado wildfires. The CU has three CUES members.

Employees from Security Service Federal Credit Union and Recall Document Management Services volunteered their time in June to help community members protect their identities by shredding personal documents for free at two San Antonio CU branches. Over the course of two days, the team recycled more than 27,200 pounds of paper. According to Recall, the events saved 231 trees, 5,184 gallons of oil, 54,578 kilowatts of electricity and 95,511 gallons of water.

South Bay Credit Union, Redondo Beach, Calif., is holding a Change a Child’s Life coin drive during July and August. All proceeds will benefit Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Community members are invited to bring spare change to the CU’s branches. In addition, the CU will host a shredding day on July 27, when it will also sell hot dog meals to raise additional funds. The CU has one CUES member.

CUES Supplier Member News: Credit Union 24, Tallahassee, Fla., announced that two new directors have been elected to its board, and two incumbents have been re-elected to serve another term. The network’s board also re-elected its officers to serve another one-year term during 2012-2013. Bradley Blake, president/CEO of Florida State University Credit Union, Tallahassee, Fla., was re-elected chairman; Joan Nolan, VP/operations support at IBM Southeast Employees’ Federal Credit Union, Boca Raton, Fla., was re-elected vice chairman; and Becky Hulett, chief financial officer of 121 Financial Credit Union, Jacksonville, Fla., was re-elected secretary/treasurer. James Smith, president/CEO of Singing River Federal Credit Union, Moss Point, Miss., was elected to serve a three-year term. Finally, Paul Numbers Jr., president/CEO of State Employees Credit Union, Jacksonville, Fla., was also elected for a one-year term.
