Anniversary and Milestone: As the University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union, Lexington, Ky., celebrates 75 years of service, the CU also reached 50,000 members in July. To celebrate the 50,000th member received a $500 Visa gift card.

Honored: The National Association of Federal Credit Unions Awards Committee honored six individuals and two credit unions as winners in its 2012 Annual Awards Competition, including the following CUES members:

  • Pioneer West Virginia Federal Credit Union, Charleston, W.Va., was named Federal Credit Union of the Year (less than $150 million). The CU has four CUES members.
  • SeaComm Federal Credit Union, Massena, N.Y., was named Federal Credit Union of the Year ($150 million or more). The CU has one CUES member.
  • Gerald P. Bolduc, president/CEO of Monroe County Teachers Federal Credit Union, Key West, Fla., was named CEO of the Year (less than $150 million).
  • Bonnie Ciuffo, chief information officer of South Carolina Federal Credit Union, North Charleston, S.C., was named Professional of the Year (assets more than $150 million).

North Peace Savings and Credit Union received the 2012 Doxim Customer Excellence Award at the Doxim Exchange 2012 Client Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia. Doxim is a close partner of the CU, providing member statement and technology services to enhance overall member experience. The CU underwent a statement redesign project last year. Doxim’s Customer Excellence award recognized North Peace Savings and CU for providing strategic user input to enhance the firm’s current offerings to better serve clients.

Merger: Navigant Credit Union, Smithfield, R.I., is merging in $68 million Columbus Credit Union, Warren, R.I.

New Position: Achieva Credit Union, Clearwater, Fla., is pleased to announce the addition of Janet Till, SPHR, as SVP/people and corporate culture. Till comes to the CU with over 25 years of experience in the HR field.  Previously, she served as VP/corporate human resources at Bankers Financial Corp. and VP/human resources at ABR/Ceridian.

Matt Vance is the new senior product development supervisor at Salal Credit Union, Seattle. Previously, he was marketing and community manager at Bellingham, Wash.-based Industrial Credit Union.

Community Involvement: Michigan State University Federal Credit Union, East Lansing, Mich., recently named the two winners of its 2012 Millionaire for a Day contest. Millionaire for a Day was open to MSUFCU Dollar Dog members, ages 5 to 12, who deposited $10 or more in May. Each winner received $150 deposited to their savings account. The local winner also had a fun day of red carpet treatment and a limousine ride.

South Bay Credit Union, Redondo Beach, Calif., hosted a Community Appreciation Day on July 27. The CU offered paper shredding, computer recycling and a $5 BBQ lunch to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network.
