Honored: Richard Whitman, VP/mortgage lending for Texas Trust Credit Union, Mansfield, Texas, has been named a Texas Housing Giant by HousingWire magazine. The inaugural list honors the 50 most influential players in the Texas mortgage lending market. According to HousingWire, each Giant was selected based on several criteria: professional reputation, commitment to superior customer service, dedication to the mortgage industry, leadership roles in industry groups, involvement in industry events, and publication of articles in leading industry trade publications.
For the second year in a row, Security Service Federal Credit Union, San Antonio, employees have voted the organization into a spot as a top workplace in San Antonio, as researched by the San Antonio Express-News in its annual Top Workplaces edition. The credit union was ranked eighth out of the top 15 large companies in the city. The CU has five CUES members.
Vancity Credit Union, Vancouver, British Columbia, was named one of Canada's top 50 employers by global human resources firm Aon Hewitt. The CU has three CUES members as part of its CUES Advancing Management Group Membership.
New Position: David Woodruff is the new president/CEO of Zia Credit Union, Los Alamos, N.M., effective Nov. 5. Woodruff, a CUES’ CEO Institute graduate, was previously the VP/lending at CommonWeath One Federal Credit Union, Alexandria, Va.
Promotion: Debra Vollmer has been promoted to SVP/branch services at Langley Federal Credit Union, Newport News, Va. She will oversee operations, sales and service to Langley FCU’s members through the credit union’s 19 branches.
Promotion/Retirement: Connex Credit Union, New Haven, Conn., has named Frank Mancini as its next president/CEO. Mancini has been with Connex CU since 2003 as chief financial officer. He succeeds John Edwards, who is retiring after 34 years leading the CU. The appointment was effective Nov. 1.
Retirement: Rick Webb, president/CEO of Atlantic Financial Federal Credit Union, Hunt Valley, Md., will retire on March 31.
CUES Supplier Member News: CO-OP Financial Services, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., has pledged $10,000 to CUAid, managed by the National Credit Union Foundation, which has been activated to provide disaster relief to credit union staff, volunteers and members affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Corporate America Credit Union, Irondale, Ala., has hired Pete Pritts, the former CEO of FirstCorp Credit Union, Phoenix, as president/CEO.
