Retirement/Promotion: Dennis Sommer is retiring as president/CEO of Alliance Credit Union, Fenton, Mo., after 40 years in the CU industry. Executive Vice President Tim Stephens will succeed him in 2013.
New Position, T. Wayne Hood Esq. is the new SVP/general counsel at ORNL Federal Credit Union, Oak Ridge, Tenn. He will provide senior leadership in compliance, policy amendments, internal controls and overall risk management for the credit union. Hood most recently served on the banking, real estate and financial services and business services groups of Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens and Cannada, PLLC Law Firm in Nashville, Tenn.
Honored: Kelly McDonough, president/CEO of First Alliance Credit Union, Rochester, Minn., was honored by Finance & Commerce as a 2012 Top Woman in Finance. The publication honored high achieving women across the state of Minnesota at its 12th annual Top Women in Finance awards program. The awards recognize women who are making notable contributions to their professions, their communities and society at large.
Anniversary: Michael B. Magnavita, EVP/chief financial officer for Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, Broomall, Pa., celebrated 25 years of service at the credit union in 2012. He began his Franklin Mint FCU career as AVP/controller in 1987 and was promoted to vice president in 1990. He was named EVP/CFO in 1993.
BCU, Vernon Hills, Ill., was selected as one of The Chicago Tribune Top 100 Workplaces 2012. The Top Workplaces are determined solely from employee feedback through a survey administered by WorkplaceDynamics, LLP. The CU has five CUES members.
Merger: The Pennsylvania Department of Banking approved the merger of Bucks County Community College Employees Federal Credit Union, Doylestown, Pa., into TruMark Financial® Credit Union, Trevose, Pa., on Oct. 1. TruMark Financial CU has one CUES member.
Community Involvement: Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union, Lowell, Mass., is hosting a Toys for Tots drive to collect new, unwrapped toys that U.S. Marine Corps Reserve members will donate to families whose children would otherwise go without gifts this holiday season. The CU has six CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.
