Obituary: Louise Hinton, former CUES chairman and retired CEO of Campus Federal Credit Union (now Campus USA FCU), Gainesville, Fla., died on Nov. 6 at the age of 87.

Management Changes: ORNL Federal Credit Union, Oak Ridge, Tenn., has announced management changes within the credit union and its credit union service organization, CU Community, LLC. As a result of the changes, Larry Jackson has been appointed president/chief operating officer of the CUSO and Janita Clausell, who has served as president of the CUSO, has been named VP/sales and service for ORNL FCU.

Honored: Stacey Walker, CCD, director at XCEL Federal Credit Union, Bloomfield, N.J., was recognized as a Trailblazer 40 Below by Credit Union Times. Walker is one of 12 credit union professionals selected nationwide for working to better the future of the credit union industry.

Texas Trust Credit Union, Mansfield, Texas, joined the ranks of Dallas-Fort Worth's top companies to work for in the fourth annual Dallas Morning News Top 100 compilation. More than 1,000 companies were initially nominated for the award, which recognizes the best places to work in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Through a third-party employee survey conducted by the Dallas Morning News and WorkplaceDynamics, the Top 100 companies were determined. Texas Trust CU, the only credit union in the Top 100, was selected based on independent employee surveys that ranked the credit union based on its executive leadership, opportunities for professional advancement, work conditions, benefits, and workplace flexibility. The CU has 13 CUES members as part of its CUES Advancing Management Group Membership.

 Merger: JetStream Federal Credit Union, Miami Lakes, Fla., and Mercy Credit Union, Miami, will officially merge on Dec. 31. CUES member Jeanne Kucey will remain president/CEO of the newly combined organization, which will retain the JFCU name. Mercy CU President Joe Lanteigne will retire. JetStream FCU has three CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.

Community Involvement: Alabama Telco Credit Union, Birmingham, Ala., is happy to announce that its partnership with the March of Dimes has raised over $55,000 for this year’s Blue Jeans for Babies event. The event gave organizations and individuals in Alabama an opportunity to wear a Blue Jeans for Babies T-shirt along with jeans or khakis to work. Alabama Telco CU employees participated in the event and sold T-shirts. The CU has 31 CUES members as part of its CUES Advancing Management Group Membership.

Andrews Federal Credit Union, Suitland, Md., recently held a food drive at each branch location, as well as its headquarters, to assist with the physical needs of Superstorm Sandy victims. In addition to food items, donations included blankets, clothing, juice, water and grocery gift cards. The CU has 12 CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.

Christian Community Credit Union's "Cards That Give to Missions" program has donated $52,000 for the "Launch a Village" project in Northern Thailand. In partnership with Integrated Tribal Development Programme, the donation will provide water and sanitation resources, build a school and a health clinic as well as provide micro-enterprise lending. The donation will also help sustain three villages economically by providing agricultural and business training, purchasing a 4-wheel drive truck and facilitating the production and marketing of Arabica coffee. The recent donation fulfilled the San Dimas, Calif., CU’s pledge set in April 2008 to give a total of $232,500 to the project. To date, Christian Community CU’s "Cards That Give to Missions" program has given over $3 million. The donation comes from interchange income. The CU has two CUES members.

Security Service Federal Credit Union employees across Texas, Colorado and Utah collected $205,830 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s annual Light the Night Walk. This is the third year the CU has served as a national partner for the society, breaking last year’s record donation by more than $20,000. More than 400 employees walked in the event. Participating with LLS through volunteerism and employee fundraising, Security Service FCU has donated nearly $1 million for blood cancer research over the last 11 years. The CU, headquartered in San Antonio, has five CUES members.

South Bay Credit Union, Redondo Beach, Calif., is sponsoring a holiday food drive and toy donations in its Redondo Beach and Torrance locations. Branches will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for Cheer for Children, an all-volunteer organization founded in 1985 to help children in the South Bay. The CU has one CUES member.
