Member News:

Anniversary: Air Force Federal Credit Union, San Antonio, celebrated its 60th anniversary Nov. 14 with a ceremony at the Kelly Field Club on Port San Antonio with 250 guests. The CU has 10 CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.

Honored: Altura Credit Union, Riverside, Calif., has been named “Best Credit Union” by readers of The Press-Enterprise in its 17th Annual Readers’ Choice Awards. The largest newspaper serving the Inland Empire area of Southern California announced the award locally earlier this month in a special edition of the paper. The CU has nine CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.

Merger: Main Street Financial Federal Credit Union, Denham Springs, La., will merge into Jefferson Financial Credit Union, Metairie, La., which has 23 CUES members as part of its CUES Advancing Management Group Membership.

Michigan State University Federal Credit Union, East Lansing, Mich., and Eaton County Educational Credit Union, Charlotte, Mich., plan to merge. The proposed merger is contingent upon the approval of regulatory agencies and a majority of Eaton County Educational CU’s members. Michigan State University FCU has 10 CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.

New Position: Tansley Stearns, CME, CSE, is joining the Filene Research Institute, Madison, Wis., as director of innovation applied research. Previously, she was AVP/corporate strategy and government relations at Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Bethpage, N.Y.

Retirement: Javier Moctezuma has retired as CEO of Laredo Federal Credit Union, Laredo, Texas.

Randy M. Smith, CPA, CCD, CEO of Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union, Universal City, Texas, will retire on Dec. 31. He will serve as a senior adviser to the board of directors. Christopher W. O’Connor, president/chief operating officer will succeed him.

Community Involvement: Achieva Credit Union, Clearwater, Fla., contributed $1,000 to the Red Cross in response to Hurricane Sandy. The CU has 11 CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.

Andrews Federal Credit Union, Suitland, Md., is partnering with Operation  Best Wishes to sponsor free, personalized holiday video messages for families of 

deployed service members. On Dec. 20, the Operation Best Wishes team will set up a 

mobile webcast unit at the CU to record greetings. Afterwards, family members will receive a CD containing the video 

message, as well as a link to access the archived recording via secured website. The CU has 12 CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership

 

South Bay Credit Union, Redondo Beach, Calif., is sponsoring a holiday food drive and toy donation in its Redondo Beach and Torrance locations. Branches will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for distribution to Cheer for Children, an all-volunteer organization founded in 1985 to help children in the South Bay. The CU has one CUES member.

CUES Supplier Member News: Q2ebanking, Austin, Texas, was ranked No. 2 on The Austin American-Statesman’s listing of the top mid-sized companies to work for in the Greater Austin area. The results are based on feedback generated from an independent employee satisfaction survey conducted by the national Top Workplace program.
