Member News:

Honored: North Shore Credit Union, North Vancouver, British Columbia, is named on a list of Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures for 2012 in the growth and small cap category. The program is sponsored by Waterstone Human Capital. The CU has one CUES member.

Merger: Garden Savings Federal Credit Union, Parsippany, N.J., is merging in NWNJ Federal Credit Union and its single branch location in Denville, N.J. Garden Savings FCU has six CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.

Promotion: Dale Johnson is the new president/CEO of Sun Community Federal Credit Union, El Centro, Calif. Previously, he was the CU’s EVP/chief financial officer. He replaces Harold Walk.

Community Involvement: For the 10th year, Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Bethpage, N.Y., will help low- to moderate-income households on Long Island prepare their tax returns for free, by offering Long Island’s largest Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program at 12 of the CU’s Long Island branch locations. The CU has two CUES members.

Commonwealth Credit Union, Frankfort, Ky., is partnering with two radio stations to sponsor Band Together, a program designed to recognize new talent on the horizon and young talent in local communities, while raising money for high school music programs. Students ages 13-18 can enter by submitting a video audition. The CU has one CUES member.

Consumers Credit Union, Kalamazoo, Mich., is hosting a free seminar for individuals looking for a more effective way to budget their money. Called “Budgeting by Aisle,” the seminar presents better alternatives to payday lending. The CU has seven CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.

Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union, Westbury, N.Y., one of the first credit unions to respond to the Hurricane Sandy disaster, has provided a record $50 million in special low cost loans to the Long Island community. Long Islanders impacted by Sandy could take advantage of personal loans with a 1 percent APR for the first year to assist with repairs, or benefit from an auto loan discount and auto loan rates as low as .74 percent APR to replace vehicles lost in the storm. The CU has six CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.
