Retirement: VISIONS Federal Credit Union, Endicott, N.Y., has announced the retirement of President/CEO Frank E. Berrish, effective May 1.
New Position: Sylvia Minnifield has been named acting CEO of Montgomery County Credit Union Inc., Dayton, Ohio.
Promotion: Justin Orr has been promoted from VP/chief information officer to SVP/information technology at Alabama Telco Credit Union, Birmingham, Ala. In addition, Parker Steele, general counsel at the CU, has been promoted to VP/general counsel.
Honored: Teresa Halleck, president/CEO of San Diego County Credit Union, has been selected as a “Top Influential” in San Diego by The Daily Transcript, a San Diego-based business newspaper. Halleck was one of 50 San Diego-area business and community leaders selected as a “Top Influential,” and among only eight in the “Finance” category.
The Iowa Credit Union League selected 15 credit union executives to join its inaugural Iowa Innovation Group program, which fosters the development of new ideas and innovations for credit unions. Each member will serve a seven-month term, participate in periodic meetings led by a team from ICUL and the Filene Research Institute, and be responsible for piloting new ideas at their credit unions. Two CUES members were included. They are:
- Denny Siemers, CEO, Town and Country Credit Union, Harlan, Iowa; and
- Kathy Steffes, branch manager, Iowa Community Credit Union, Cedar Falls, Iowa.
BCU, Vernon Hills, Ill., has been named to the Center for Companies That Care Honor Roll for the ninth consecutive year. The Honor Roll celebrates U.S.-based organizations of all sizes in diverse industries. Each of the organizations named to the Honor Roll is recognized as showing its steadfast commitment to employees and community in sustaining a work environment founded on dignity and respect, developing great leaders, communicating standards of ethics and integrity, and participating in initiatives that support the community. The CU has four CUES members.
Consumers Credit Union, Kalamazoo, Mich., was named one of “West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For” by the Michigan Business and Professional Association. The CU has seven CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.
Pioneer Federal Credit Union, Mountain Home, Idaho, has been named one of Idaho’s Top Ten places to work by the Idaho Business Review. Companies are judged on a variety of topics, including compensation and benefits, work environment, company management, employee growth and development, and work-life balance. The CU has one CUES member.
Anniversary: Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union, Westbury, N.Y., is celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year. As part of its celebration, the CU is offering special anniversary rates on home equity lines of credit and personal loans. The CU has six CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.
Name Change: Telcom Credit Union, Novi, Mich., has changed its name to Vibe Credit Union. The CU has six CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.
Merger: Vantria Federal Credit Union, Springfield, Va., is merging into Apple Federal Credit Union, Fairfax, Va., which has two CUES members.
Community Involvement: Michigan State University Federal Credit Union, East Lansing, Mich., sponsored a $25,000 prize for the 2013 Greenlight Business Model Competition, created by Spartan Innovation and the CU. Entrepreneurs from all over Michigan pitched their business ideas to win the grand prize. Other prizes were awarded based on best pitch, fastest growth potential, best idea for Michigan, most creative, and most needed in the marketplace. The CU has 11 CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.
