New Position/Retirement: James M. Whipp Jr. is the new president/CEO of Saint Agnes Federal Credit Union, Baltimore, as of April 15, following the retirement of Margaret Burdette. Previously, he was SVP/member services at Freedom Federal Credit Union in Bel Air, Md.
Retirement: John Carlson, president/CEO of Sharonview Federal Credit Union, Fort Mill, S.C., is retiring.
Retirement/Promotion: Diana Roberts, CCUE, is retiring form Hershey Federal Credit Union, Hummelstown, Pa. Paul Wagner, VP/operations/lending, will succeed her.
Honored: Navy Federal Credit Union, Vienna, Va., is one of the Best Places to Work in Hawaii for the second consecutive year. Three of the CU’s 229 branches are located in Hawaii. Park Community Federal Credit Union, Louisville, Ky., was named the 10th best employer in the small/medium-size employer category in Kentucky by the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management, in conjunction with the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. The CU was one of 33 winners in the small/medium-sized employers category. The selection process was managed by Best Companies Group, based on assessment of the company’s employee policies and procedures and the results of an internal employee survey. The CU has 41 CUES members as part of its CUES Advancing Management Group membership.
Merger: Community of Healthcare Employees Credit Union and Patriot Federal Credit Union, both of Chambersburg, Pa., plan to merge. Patriot FCU has 21 CUES members as part of its CUES Advancing Management Group membership.
New Name: Comstar Federal Credit Union, Frederick, Md., is changing its name to Nymeo, an anagram of the word “money.” The CU has two CUES members.
Community Involvement: NuVision Federal Credit Union, Huntington Beach, Calif., visited 16 elementary schools in the last month to help educate local kids about money and banking while encouraging them to save. The CU is also offering special promotions and prizes for its youngest members this month. The CU has six CUES members.
Michigan State University Federal Credit Union, East Lansing, Mich., has announced a $1 million donation to the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University for the MSU Federal Credit Union Artist Studio Series Endowment. This gift will bring renowned artists to MSU’s campus to provide engagement opportunities for MSU students and faculty, school children throughout Mid-Michigan, and the general public. The CU has 12 CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group membership.
San Diego County Credit Union returns as title sponsor of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s 2013 San Diego County Credit Union Walk MS on April 21 and 27. It is the 12th consecutive year the CU has served as title sponsor. The CU has three CUES members.
State Employees’ Credit Union, Raleigh, N.C., announced that its SECU Foundation will provide $435,000 in funding for continuing education scholarships to help retrain the state’s growing unemployed and underemployed workforce. The CU has one CUES member.
CUES Supplier Member News: Anne Legg, a 2012 CUES Rising 100 honoree, is the new SVP/business strategy and innovation at CUES Supplier Member Third Degree Advertising, Oklahoma City. Previously she was VP/marketing at Financial Partners Credit Union, Downey, Calif.
Jeff Russell is leaving The Members Group, Des Moines, to become CEO of Delta Dental of Iowa. Russell serves as CEO of TMG Financial Services and senior advisor for The Members Group. Patrick Jury, CEO of the Iowa Credit Union League, will serve as acting CEO of TMG Financial Services until a successor is named.
