Seminole Schools Federal Credit Union, Sanford, Fla., has named Dan Kelley as its new president/CEO. Previously he was regional vice president for branch services at FAIRWINDS Credit Union, Orlando. He succeeds Brenda J. Miller.
Retirement/New Position: Steve Pierson is retiring on June 30 as president/CEO of BluCurrent Credit Union, Springfield, Mo. He will be succeeded by current Executive Vice President Craig Tabor.
Tony Emerson is the new president/CEO of IC Federal Credit Union, Fitchburg, Mass. Previously he was president/CEO of Credit Union League of Connecticut. He succeeds Tony Cali, who is retiring.
New Position: Amanda Thomas, formerly marketing/business development manager at Pathways Financial Credit Union, Columbus, Ohio, is the new VP/client management for MarketMatch, Dayton, Ohio.
Honored: Genisys Credit Union, Auburn Hills, Mich., President/CEO Jackie Buchanan recently received the Pontiac Area Achievers Award from the Boy Scouts of America, Great Lakes Council. The Achievers Award is presented to individuals for their outstanding local community service work.
Harriet May, retired CEO of Government Employees Credit Union, El Paso, Texas, is the 2013 recipient of the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions' Annie Vamper "Helping Hands" Award. The award is the highest honor presented by the federation. It was established in remembrance of Annie Wilma Vamper, the federation's late associate director and celebrates Vamper's lifelong dedication to the community development credit union movement.
For the third time, Training magazine has ranked Mountain America Credit Union, West Jordan, Utah, as one of the Top 125 providers of employer-sponsored workforce training and development. Each Top 125 company was measured on quantitative and qualitative data. Factors influencing the rankings included training tied to business objectives, demonstrable results, number of trainers, employee turnover and retention, leadership development, tuition assistance, training technology and infrastructure, certification, and training budget and percentage of payroll. The CU has 118 CUES members as part of its CUES Advancing Management Group membership.
Two credit unions were named to the list of Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2013:
$2.3 billion Assiniboine Credit Union Ltd., Winnipeg, Manitoba, has established an “Eco-Excellence” green team of managers, directors and executives who develop and implement an annual green plan. The CU has two CUES members.
$12 billion Vancity Credit Union, Vancouver, British Columbia, reached its goal of becoming carbon neutral in 2007 (two years ahead of schedule) through reductions in greenhouse-gas emissions combined with investments in climate-friendly projects to offset its remaining emissions. The CU has three CUES members as part of its CUES Advancing Management Group membership.
New Name: Northwest Resource Federal Credit Union, Portland, Ore., is changing its name to Trailhead Credit Union, effective June 3, 2013. As one of nine other credit unions in Oregon with “Northwest” in its name, the credit union desired a new name that would better distinguish itself in the marketplace. The CU has one CUES member.
Merger: Lakeside Credit Union, Oak Creek, Wis., has merged with Educators Credit Union, Racine, Wis., which has eight CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.
Milestone: Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union, Westbury, N.Y., has surpassed $2 billion in assets this year, while celebrating its 75th anniversary. The CU has six CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.
