Anniversary: Belco Community Credit Union President/CEO Lonny J. Maurer has celebrated 40 years of service with the credit union. He began his career at the CU on July 2, 1973, as the assistant manager at the former downtown Harrisburg, Pa., branch. On Jan. 15, 1974, he was promoted to general manager.
Honored: North Peace Savings and Credit Union, Fort St. John, British Columbia, has won Credit Union Central of Canada’s National Credit Union Innovation Award for the CU’s implementation of interactive video technology from NCR Corporation, Duluth, Ga. The award was presented on July 17 at the World Credit Union Conference in Ottawa.
Community Involvement: On July 12, 10 talented teens took center stage at the Jackson County Fairgrounds Grandstands at American 1 Teen Idol, presented by American 1 Credit Union, Jackson, Mich. American 1 Teen Idol is a youth singing event, where over 50 teens auditioned and 10 teens from area cities were selected to perform in the final competition. The CU has six CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.
Desert Schools Federal Credit Union, Phoenix, raised $305,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network and Phoenix Children’s Hospital at its 15th annual charity golf tournament. On event day more than 175 players from both local and national businesses came together to support a great cause. The CU has raised more than $2 million since the event’s inception. The CU has six CUES members as part of its CUES Executive Group Membership.
Family Federal Credit Union, Wilmington, Calif., and Kinecta Federal Credit Union, Manhattan Beach, Calif., in partnership with the Richard Myles Johnson Foundation, offered the “Bite of Reality” program, a money management simulation for teens, on July 15.
