Sharing the American Dream
05/31/2012
In honor of its 50th anniversary, CUES has re-released Sharing the American Dream, first published 25 years ago. With a multiple-author approach, the book chronicles the early days of credit unions, CUES and the profession of credit union management. For example, CU pioneer Louise McCarren Herring shares her exploits as a credit union organizer in the 1930s, including her train trip to Estes Park for the founding of CUNA. You’ll also meet CUES’ first chairman, Jack Mitchell, former CEO of Dallas Teachers Credit Union (now Credit Union of Texas), plus other movers and shakers from across the movement.
