My name is Amy, and I am CUES.

My first job out of college was at the PR firm I interned with during school, but my debut in the financial services industry was with BestSource Credit Union in Waterford, Mich. When I began as the marketing specialist, I had essentially no financial services knowledge, so this position was a good stepping-stone into the credit union world.

I did step outside the industry for my next opportunity, but was happy to return less than a year later as BestSources’ marketing manager. My next move was to Connex Credit Union in North Haven, Conn., as the assistant vice president of marketing.
 
I became interested in CUES through their Next Top Credit Union Executive contest. As a finalist, I know CUES is trying to get in touch with the next generation of industry leaders. I took advantage of the membership and found that CUES and I are a good fit. CUES is focused on finding, and catering to, the next group of people who are going to be dedicated to the industry; and long term, I see myself in an executive-level credit union marketing position.

I’ve mentioned the CUES NextGen Membership to my young credit union friends quite a lot because I think it’s such a great value. Credit unions of any size should be willing to support this beneficial and affordable membership—especially since the price doesn’t diminish your access the number of CUES’ resources. As someone who sees a future with credit unions, it’s great my credit union’s leadership is so supportive of me being involved in the industry and attending educational opportunities.

Many of the most valuable industry events I’ve attended thus far have been through CUES; and now that I’m a member, I’m more aware of the educational opportunities out there to help me to achieve my goals. For example, I have the chance to attend CEO Institute I: Strategic Planning in April. This is something that wouldn’t have been in my realm of possibilities before the Next Top Credit Union Executive contest. CUES is presenting opportunities to me that I wouldn’t have had access to otherwise.
