My name is Cindy, and I am CUES.

I’ve been through the whole marketing spectrum, from catalog, database and direct mail to e-marketing, branding and credit cards.

I began my career as a math and science teacher, but when my husband and I moved out of state, there wasn’t reciprocity for my teaching certification. I had to get whatever job I could, and began doing marketing for a manufacturing firm. Even with no experience in the field, the firm figured I could do the job and started to train me. I found direct mail fascinating, and I loved the analytics behind it!

After another move, I went to work for a publication doing their circulation marketing, which combined direct mail and database marketing. My last move brought me to Jacksonville, Fla., and my first financial services marketing position with GE Capital. When GE Capital moved out of state, I began work for AT&T Universal Card Services and I acquired a credit card background. AT&T sold to CitiBank, and wanting to stay in Jacksonville, I went to work for Jax Federal Credit Union. I was there for a few years and then accepted a position at Florida Telco, now 121 Financial Credit Union.

When I joined CUES, I had about 20-years of financial services industry experience, but no credit union marketing experience. Credit unions, their regulations and operations were all new to me, and I needed a network I could rely on for background information. I also needed to get in touch with peers I could bounce ideas off of, and CUES provided that for me.

One of my favorite CUES offerings is CUES Net™. With limited travel due to the economy, I keep in touch with more of my colleagues now than I ever would by attending a single convention. It’s like having a whole think tank on call. I get ideas, help with issues, and just share laughs daily. It’s an invaluable tool in this fast-paced age, and has expanded the interaction I have with my peers exponentially.

I enjoy CUES’ whitepapers because they give me insight into all different aspects of the industry. I also like the “Members Share” library where I can find compliance documents, job descriptions and more. This saves me from reinventing the wheel because I can see what other people have done, borrow their policy or procedure directly, or modify it to suit my own needs.

I’m also pleased with CUES’ recognition efforts. With awards for the executive, director, future leader and supplier of the year, as well as the halls of fame, you get to see your colleague’s accomplishments and how much talent this industry has.

I feel like I’ve found my home. I’m happy in this industry, and I just can’t imagine a more rewarding or enjoyable job. I love helping my staff grow and develop their talents. In fact, I frequently use a lot of the information I get from CUES as training materials.

My name is Cindy, from 121 Financial Credit Union, Jacksonville, Fla., and I am CUES.
