Credit Union Executives Society

I was encouraged to join the Credit Union Executives Society when I started working at my credit union, and I’m glad I did. I was young, and I had more to learn than I did to offer. CUES has certainly helped me to grow and learn along the way.
My first job was delivering flowers for my aunt’s flower shop. I spent an embarrassing summer driving a lavender van. I got my start in the financial services industry with the NCUA; I was recruited out of college at 21 and hired as a credit union examiner. I went to work for Affinity six years later.
Personally, the most profound impact I’ve had from my experience with CUES has been attending CEO Institute. It was my first formal post-undergraduate educational experience, and it ignited a passion in me for learning. In fact, after I earned my Certified Chief Executive designation, I spent the next four years acquiring my MBA.
I’ve told many, many people about CUES, especially now that I’m the chairman of the CUES New Jersey Council. One of my direct reports is also serving on the Council.
Thanks to CUES, I can pick up the phone and find support from my colleagues anytime I need to. There is a real sense of alumni and shared experiences with those I went to CEO Institute with.
I feel very fortunate to be in a dynamic business. For me, it’s all about working for an organization that will continue to thrive and grow, and I have that where I am today.
