My name is Eileen, and I am CUES.

Throughout my career, I’ve received all of my credit union-specific training from CUES. I began my credit union career as a teller at Xerox Credit Union while pursuing my bachelor’s degree, and upon completion of my marketing degree moved to the marketing department. I started work on my MBA and also started CUES training to learn more about the industry. Our VP of marketing was a CUES advocate and she turned me on to the organization. I’ve now been a CUES member for 16 years!

As the industry changes and grows, I, too, must continue to learn and grow. CUES always has the resources I need to help me do that. For example, at one time, my board wanted a CEO performance evaluation. CUES had a CEO Performance Evaluation System that was really beneficial to me and my board. Another time, we were learning about merger options so we got the CUES Complete Guide to Mergers manual. When my board wanted me to do succession planning, I got CUES’ Succession Planning Essentials manual. It seems like whatever I need to do to step up my game, CUES has something to help me do that. When I like to see how our productivity is—whether we’re overstaffed or understaffed—I use the CUES Staffing Manual for Credit Unions like a bible—and I taught my whole management team how to use it.

Because I completed college so long ago, I felt the need to return to school. So I enrolled in CUES’ Advanced Leadership Institute at Harvard Business School. It was such an awesome program. That, for me, was important because I’d felt removed for so long from the formal education process. It was just really great. I even liked it better than my MBA program because it was specific to what I was doing at work, not to mention the benefits of a formal education from an Ivy League school.

When CUES first introduced the CEO Institute program at Stanford University, that was perfect. It helped me build a network when I needed it most. I made several good friends that I still have today.

In the beginning, my membership with CUES helped me to learn more about my industry, now I enjoy it because of the networking. I like the people involved in it—and CUES has the best volunteers. They’re very professional and they have a lot of credibility. I always think, “If it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for me.”

I could be the poster child for CUES. Whenever there is a subject that I need to become an expert on really fast, I turn to cues.org; it always has what I need.
