Credit Union Executives Society

My first foray into the movement came during college when I worked for Greater Iowa Credit Union as their “human” audio response system—well before the technology was available for purchase. Upon graduation, I sent my resume to the Illinois Credit Union League and have worked in the industry since. My background is broad; I have held many positions along my way to president/CEO, including: EVP, training director, IT director and branch manager.
I joined CUES in 1998 because the president of the credit union I worked for was a strong supporter and recommended I join. Today, my favorite aspect of being a CUES member is the confidence they inspire. I know that whatever I get from CUES is going to be top-quality—whether it’s written material or attending a conference or executive education course, I am getting the information I need to become a better leader.
Whenever I am looking for answers, CUES is always the first place I check. I have been in my current position for two-and-one-half-years now, and have used many of CUES’ resources, including: CEO Institute, CUES Symposium: A CEO/Chairman Exchange, CEO/Executive Team Network™, and several manuals.
CEO Institute helped me along my career path, giving me the opportunity to work with a group of people who had similar positions and desires as me. It was a great way to connect with people at deeper level, and the lasting friendships from this educational opportunity have been very helpful. I still converse with those folks from time to time on important issues in the industry, and at my credit union.
Over the years, I have encouraged my peers, to join CUES. I tell them, “If you are looking for a resource to solve a problem, check CUES first.”
My name is Peter, from North Corporate America Family Credit Union, Elgin, Ill., and I am CUES.
