Job Title: Data Platforms Manager

Position Location: Raleigh, NC


Your impact:


As the Data Platforms Manager, you'll have the opportunity to use your IT aptitude, and management and leadership talents to lead your team in providing reliable operations of our data platform.

You'll create and enhance strong practices for maintaining high availability while also delivering the features and functions necessary to meet business objectives. You'll also have the opportunity to use your interpersonal skills to develop strong and supportive relationships with our customers, throughout the organization, to better understand their needs from our data system and assist them in prioritizing and completing solutions to satisfy those needs.


The contributions you can anticipate making:


Leading division results and goals by:


  • Administrating data platform including controls, governance access, system integration, deployment, updates, etc.
  • Managing controls and standards to ensure that all new data requirements are met using the most appropriate controls and practices
  • Successfully executing our data platform roadmap
  • Establishing and maintaining practices that guide the evaluation, operation, on-going maintenance, and management of our data platform
  • Overseeing platform support, changes, enhancements, and testing
  • Owning and coordinating development and release activities
  • Defining and putting into practice Coastal's SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) with the focus on performance, scalability, and security.
  • Overseeing availability, proactive monitoring, and response to service performance, issues, and data quality
  • Guiding staff in response to processing errors and developing changes to processing that limit the reoccurrence of such errors
  • Reporting on outages
  • Building and maintaining strong vendor relationships to ensure maximum platform utilization, accountability on a day-to-day basis, and optimal service response (We can even move this to the top of the list if you want to.)
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely completion of daily processing tasks, services, and data that support our operations
  • Performing analyses and recommending enhancements or solutions to business needs and assigning staff to the tasks and projects necessary to delivery those
  • Acting as the key coordinator of all vendor development activities and providing progress reports to management


Developing team by:


  • Identifying each of your team member's talents and helping them do more of their best work
  • Holding meaningful weekly check-ins with each team member to build relationship, trust, and provide the opportunity for coaching, feedback, and recognition
  • Conducting stay interviews, performance pulses, and milestone connect meetings regularly
  • Building a culture that embodies Coastal's values
  • Cross-training to ensure optimal coverage
  • Ensuring your staff has the knowledge and tools needed to perform well
  • Successfully recruiting additional staff as needed


Protecting Coastal by:


  • Ensuring security and integrity of data
  • Ensuring staff is capable of providing adequate service at all times
  • Leading change management to ensure team follows Coastal's change control process and that all documentation is accurate and communicated effectively
  • Providing support for internal/external auditors
  • Resolving audit and exam findings
  • Ensuring the BCP preparedness of your team


Providing exceptional customer service by:


  • Proactively consulting with customers to help them understand how our data platforms can be used to improve the services they provide
  • Building a positive culture that inspires your team to do their best
  • Ensuring your staff has the knowledge and tools needed to perform well

Interested? Here's what we need to see on your resume:




Two years' experience in data platform support


AWS, Azure, Mulesoft, and SQL experience preferred


Four years' team management, staff development, or large project team leadership experience.


Four years of experience managing vendor relationships




College degree in computer science/technology or business administration, and PMP certification preferred, or equivalent experience.
