Are We the Place for You?
The Maine Credit Union League (Westbrook, ME) is seeking our next President. We are a thriving trade association, committed to the well-being of financial cooperatives across Maine and the consumers they serve. Our 49 member credit unions (representing 100% affiliation) plus 2 associate members are highly supportive of the work we do in education, awareness, advocacy, and collaboration.

Our trade association is an independent entity that drives collaboration for Maine’s Credit Unions, raising as much as $1 Million annually to end hunger in Maine, building statewide awareness that has led numerous Mainers to join a credit union, and attracting thousands of credit union professionals to education and networking events each year. The President reports to an 11-person Board of Directors (made up of credit union CEOs) and collaborates with a team of 9 employees to execute our mission of helping Maine’s Credit Unions succeed. Maine’s Credit Unions are an advocacy force, with as much as 97% success for our endorsed candidates and passage of legislation and regulation that improves how Maine’s Credit Unions expand financial well-being for the members they serve.

Located in Westbrook, Maine (greater Portland region), our location offers four beautiful seasons of access to amazing outdoor activities. Our safe environment, beautiful landscapes, thriving arts scene, and vibrant food culture create an extraordinary quality of life. The region is home to an old seaport city that is on a new trajectory, as a progressive region that is large enough to be interesting while small enough to develop a supportive community. Candidates who thrive here will appreciate and relate to the unique nature of Maine, able to build trust in a well-established local and credit union community.

This will be demonstrated in the way you connect with the team at the League, getting to know what motivates employees so you may best align them as a team, engaged in our important, mission-driven work. It will energize you to meet new people, and you will be inspired to get to know the credit unions and the people who lead them, understanding why they serve and how you can expand meaningful collaboration to help them grow.

This relationship focus will extend to an understanding of how to be effective in political advocacy efforts. You will have a track record of building relationships in the Maine statehouse, among credit union regulators, and in Washington D.C.
