Thiokol Elkton Federal Credit Union

Elkton, MD

Position Description

Are We the Company For You?
Thiokol Elkton Federal Credit Union ($26M; Elkton, MD) is looking for its next President! This individual will guide the credit union and its small team to growth through visionary and inspiring ideas.

With approximately 4,000 loyal members and strong capital position, we are a credit union that is positioned for growth. Since our founding in 1958, we have served the employees of our core sponsor with a constant focus on members first. As we look to the future, we will continue our legacy of personalized service, while introducing programs designed to create growth, increase lending, and bring in new members.

Is This the Career For You?
This role provides a leadership opportunity to oversee a small team while reporting to a Board of Directors and working directly with the members to improve their financial well-being. This means the ideal President will be a visionary leader, a strong communicator who can engage effectively with multiple stakeholders, and a financial services expert that is well-versed in all operations of a credit union.

Our next President will bring big vision and great ideas, as well as a love for working directly with members and in the operation of a credit union. Financial acumen, understanding of the regulatory compliance environment, and a heart for financial inclusion are equally important to success in this role. Collaborative to the core, you will enjoy building personal relationships with our members, working closely with a small team of colleagues, and making an impact on the financial well-being of those we serve, one member at a time.

You will communicate in a manner that is both collaborative and decisive, inspiring action in your team members, a supportive partnership with your Board of Directors, and confidence from the regulators and your members. Your skillset balances business acumen and interpersonal relationships, with accomplishments that show how you have achieved financial gains and significant growth while honoring member needs and developing your team.

A history of implementing new ideas and programs, growing a loan portfolio, and expanding relationships with members will have helped prepare you to become our President. Your passion for serving, innovating, and doing good business will make you love this step in your career. Likely, someone who has served as a small credit union CEO (or assistant manager) or who has been in a leadership position at a mid-sized credit union will be best-suited to thrive in this role.

Help Us Get to Know You
Tell us more about your vision and experience with a cover letter that outlines your history in financial services, your commitment to member service, and your background in helping small teams thrive. Your resume (or a link to your LinkedIn profile) should show your education/credentials (4-Year Degree preferred) and at least 5 years of experience at a mid- to senior-management level in a credit union, as well as your industry or community involvement. A Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) certification and/or other industry credentials will set you apart.
