Position Description

PURPOSE: To oversee the day-to-day function of the BSA/AML Compliance Department and ensure that SECU and the institutions we service are current in regard to all Bank Secrecy Act and OFAC requirements.


Support AEVP – Chief Compliance Officer, who serves as BSA and OFAC Officer.
Ensure that all aspects of SECU’s Bank Secrecy Act Program are conducted in a timely and accurate manner. These duties may include: electronic filing of Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), electronic filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), review of Monetary Instruments Log (MIL); management of Financial Crime Risk Manager (FCRM) system; manage alerts and/or cases as needed; monitor Bank Secrecy Act reporting from branches and operations departments via the Remedy Suspicious Activity Referral process; run 314(a) scans as directed by FinCEN and research potential matches.
Conduct thorough analysis of suspicious activity cases using research tools (SECU systems and internet based).
Conduct employee investigations as needed and partner with Risk Management on SAR filings for employee behaviors that warrant a SAR filing and may potentially warrant termination.
Conduct monthly quality control reviews of the FCRM application to include at minimum alert closeout status, CTR deletions, alert closeout review, and PEP activity.
Serve as liaison between front-end users, Compliance Analytics Manager, IS DBA, IS System Administrator, and Fiserv reps to facilitate all updates, changes, patching, and troubleshooting for FCRM application.
Provide support for all regulatory audits and exams, both internal and external. Ensure proper completion of all document request lists and serve as subject matter expert for engagement meetings. Provide audit and exam support as needed for credit union partners.
Facilitate member close-out and termination process.
Manage OFAC sanctions program, including sanctions screening of various transactions, membership, and vendors, among others, and filing reports as needed.
Develop senior team members to support various management functions.
Research, track, and respond to information sharing requests from law enforcement and other financial institutions as provided for in the USA PATRIOT Act.
Prepare materials necessary for Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering & OFAC Compliance training classes and conduct classes at training centers statewide.
Maintain all policies and procedures related to the SECU BSA program based on regulatory changes and guidance from regulatory bodies.
Assist affiliated credit unions with their BSA processing as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.


Four-year degree from accredited institution required.
6+ years of BSA and/or OFAC-related experience in a highly regulated financial institution with a thorough knowledge of industry, laws, rules, and regulations.
Strong computer skills required (Microsoft Office, MARGO Teller/Platform, etc).
Ability to manage dynamic and growing team with hybrid/remote staff.
Ability to quickly learn BSA business user software.
Analytical research skills are imperative.
CAMS certifications should be obtained within 12 months and maintained. Ability to function independently and with little direct supervision.
Must have good organizational skills and attention to detail.

Experience managing BSA/AML and/or sanctions program at a larger or complex credit union or bank.
Knowledge of requirements around business accounts and services.
Knowledge of and experience in applying applicable BSA/AML and OFAC laws, regulations, and guidance.


Hybrid position with remote option available.
