Originally chartered in 1972 by a group of employees at Dow Chemical, Essential Federal Credit Union ($335M, Plaquemine, LA) was created with the purpose of providing outstanding financial services at the lowest possible cost.
At Essential, our members know their money is safe and sound. Serving over 40,000 members, we are expanding our locations to serve our growing membership that extends to include nine parishes in the Greater Baton Rouge community.

Is This the Career for You?
The VP-Finance is a key member of the executive leadership team, overseeing our finance and accounting operations. The VP-Finance will direct all accounting and finance related activities while managing a small team of accountants and support staff. The VP-Finance will ensure compliance with regulations and legal requirements for the reporting and management of all financial activities for the credit union. This includes preparing the annual budget, financial reports, the call report, and other reports that help executive management set the strategic direction. Our ideal candidate will be well-versed in asset liability management (ALM), and able to craft a high-return financial strategy.
This position will facilitate long-term growth goals, contribute to strategic planning, and effectively execute organizational plans, including leveraging our Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) status to impact our communities. The VP-Finance reports to the President/CEO and works in collaboration with the rest of the executive leadership team, staff at all levels and the board of directors. Excellent communication skills, technical skills, and vision are highly desirable.
