About The Role

The AVP of Risk Management is the biggest internal advocate of our Shared Value of STEWARDSHIP – WE PROTECT WHAT’S IMPORTANT.  In this role, you will guide and direct the Compliance and Collection teams, and oversee Vendor Management  and Business Continuity.  Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, and in collaboration with the Chief Information Officer, you will also work as the Credit Union’s Information Security Officer, monitoring cybersecurity, data privacy, and third party risks to identify and manage potential areas of vulnerability.

This position is on-premise and based at our headquarters office in Ventura, CA, but does offer ability for a limited hybrid schedule.  Managers at VCCU uphold our Shared Values and work onsite for the best benefit of our membership and community partners.  You’ll lead both on premise and remote teams and provide leadership and support to both managers and staff.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Support development and ongoing oversight of the credit union Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework and program. Buildout and maintain the three lines of defense model as well as identify, measure, manage, report and make recommendations to govern the risks faced by the Credit Union.
  • Monitor portfolio delinquency and charge off rates to adequately manage loan portfolio risk and impact. In conjunction with management, ensure that lending policies and guidelines reflect the current risk tolerance levels; forecast future delinquency and charge off impacts based upon analysis of loan portfolio, economic, and other factors.
  • Perform and maintain risk assessments for various processes and programs to identify risks, create internal controls and implement mitigation factors.
  • Support the liaison process with external auditors and/or regulatory agencies, as necessary.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain VCCU’s Business Continuity Plan.

 

What We’re Seeking

  • Previous risk management experience at a financial institution, 5+ years
    • Specifically in audits, compliance, loss prevention, enterprise risk management, cybersecurity, etc.
  • Knowledge of regulations and laws, the regulatory environment, and current advocacy issues.
  • Knowledge of consumer protection and FI regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience.
