Position Description

Weber State Credit Union is looking for a Collections Manager to assist Weber State Credit Union to live out our Service Mission, “Working together as a team to be the most trusted resource for our members and communities to build a brighter financial future.” This is accomplished by providing outstanding service to both members and team members.

The Collections Manager analyzes trends and mitigates risk associated with delinquent loans and high-risk accounts. The position prepares period reports for senior management and is responsible for the daily collection and loss mitigation efforts of the credit union.

How You'll Contribute:

 \\\ Responsible for the daily management of the collection staff including: developing and implementing best practices to achieve superior member experience, present options and solutions to the members, and ensure high quality and compliant collections efforts
 \\\ Provide supervision & leadership of daily department functions, schedules goals, key performance ratios, and default resolution efforts including: vehicle repossession, liquidation, bankruptcy, and foreclosure
 \\\ Identify risks by carrying out collection policies, practices, and procedures
 \\\ Evaluating effectiveness of current procedures, developing and recommending changes, and implementing changes in collection department
 \\\ Ensuring compliance of department procedures and practices
 \\\ Maintain and monitor collection platform settings, user permissions, and results
 \\\ Remain current on current collection industry technology, trends, regulations, and best practices
 \\\ Prepare and maintain required monthly records and reports regarding loss mitigation & loan servicing
 \\\ Develop employees to their highest potential through coaching, training, or correcting
 \\\ Collaborate and work with other areas within the credit union to establish practices and procedures to accomplish the credit union's mission
 \\\ Represent the credit union in small claims, municipal, and bankruptcy courts
 \\\ Review and recommend charge offs after ensuring all collection efforts have been exhausted
 \\\ Monitor results with collection agencies and maintain effective relationships
 \\\ Establish and maintain critical vendor relationships & performance. Perform annual vendor due diligence

Education & Experience Requirements:

 \\\ A 4-year college degree in a relevant field or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school
 \\\ A minimum of 5 years of similar or related experience in collections
 \\\ A minimum of 3 years of successful experience supervising and coaching direct reports
 \\\ Experience with selecting, launching and administration of collection platforms
 \\\ Progressive collection experience within a financial institution
