Position Description

Position Summary

The Training & Development Specialist will implement and assess training programs based on the credit union’s Strategic Plan, the Training and Development Strategy, and individual department and employee needs. The Training & Development Specialist will diversify and implement training opportunities including classroom, virtual, and on-the-job training methods. The Training & Development Specialist is critical in supporting the strategic learning environment established by the Training & Development Manager at the credit union.

May be assigned to lead special projects and serve on various project teams to accomplish CommonWealth One’s Strategic Goals.

Responsibilities

· Develops and facilitates staff training and learning initiatives.

· Leads educational activities and programs to promote learning and development throughout the Credit Union.

· Facilitates and monitors the onboarding program, which includes orientation and on-the-job training for new hires.

· Collaborates with product vendors and arranges ongoing sales and product training for staff.

· Develops needs assessments and coordinates with Training & Development Manager the identified subsequent training and development needs.

· Consults with Training & Development Manager and Department Leads to develop and enhance job-specific training.

· Develops and organizes training and educational materials.

· Creates job aides and procedures utilizing instructional design tools and systems according to department templates.

· Uses a tracking and measurement system to ensure the effectiveness of training.

· Maintains a virtual training library.

· Uses all applicable Learning Management Systems to enable staff to complete required annual training programs and job specific courses.

· Assists the Human Resources Department in staff development programs and initiatives.

· Supports Human Resources and Strategic Plan tactics by completing related work as required.

· Monitors the NMLS certification program for required staff.

· Supports the Credit Union’s culture initiative and other employee engagement efforts.

· Provides back-up support to other members of the Human Resources Department and Credit Union Committees/Initiatives.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Performance Expectations

· Implements an active training schedule to ensure annual training goals are achieved.

· Maximizes and integrates use of technology in designing instructional materials.

· Measures effectiveness of training activities.

· Ensures compliance with all applicable federal regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, Security and OFAC.

· Demonstrates strong communications and partnerships with all departments, members, and vendors.

· Updates training materials according to the Training and Development strategy implemented by the Training Manager

· Networks with other Training & Development professionals to be informed on new and effective programs, practices, and systems.

· Attends conferences and training sessions to further enhance the credit union’s programs and their training and development skills.

· Appropriately informs leader of department activities.

· Promotes the credit union’s professional reputation.

· Demonstrates the credit union’s Core Values and Cultural Beliefs.

Education & Experience

· Three to five years experience in developing and facilitating staff training, preferably for financial institutions.

· Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.

· Skilled in coaching and training staff to achieve high performance levels.

· Demonstrated knowledge of applicable rules, regulations and laws affecting financial institutions.

· Knowledge of adult learning theory, preferred.

Skills & Abilities

· Technologically savvy with experience using banking platforms
and instructional design applications.

· Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to work on
competing priorities.

· Ability to work independently and under pressure of deadlines.

· Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe software.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, including the general office suite, forms, and other SharePoint features.

· Effective problem solving and decision-making capabilities.

· Excellent facilitation, teambuilding, and motivational skills.

· High level of enthusiasm, self-motivation, and initiative.
