Do You Belong Here?
For more than 90 years, Public Safety Credit Union (Kansas City, MO) has remained true to its purpose, serving first responders and their families across Missouri and Kansas: police officers, firefighters, EMS professionals, and the people who stand behind them.
Public Safety Credit Union is now seeking a strategic, analytical, and hands-on leader to serve as our next Chief Financial Officer. This is a chance to guide the financial strength of a credit union with a proud legacy and a clear mission. The CFO will oversee accounting, budgeting, investment management, asset/liability management, payroll administration, and financial reporting. This leader will balance strategic vision with active involvement in day-to-day operations, ensuring financial strength, regulatory compliance, and sound stewardship on behalf of members.
Reporting to the President/CEO, the CFO will serve as a key advisor to the CEO, the senior leadership team, and the Board of Directors. The CFO will partner across the organization to support strategic decision-making, strengthen financial governance, and align financial operations with the credit union’s mission, values, and growth objectives.
At Public Safety Credit Union, our commitment goes beyond banking. Through our partnership with various programs, the credit union supports the families of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMS workers who have died in the line of duty. We also proudly support causes that matter to the first responder community, including the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, the KCPD CARE Team, and Special Olympics.
Is Your Purpose Building Financial Strength?
The Chief Financial Officer will be a key leader in protecting and strengthening the credit union’s financial foundation, both now and in the years ahead.
A significant focus of the role will be directing all accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets, CECL, payroll, and financial controls. The CFO will make sure monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting is accurate and timely, develop and manage the annual budget and forecasts, and maintain strong internal controls that safeguard the credit union’s assets.
This leader will also manage the investment portfolio and asset/liability management activities with the President/CEO and the Asset/Liability Committee (ALCO). The CFO will monitor liquidity, earnings, and interest rate risk, and will present ALCO, investment, and financial trend reports to executive leadership and the Board. They will turn complex financial information into clear, actionable insight that guides strategic decisions.
Beyond finance and accounting, the CFO will:
Be the primary financial liaison with auditors, examiners, and regulatory agencies
Oversee payment services operations, including ACH, share drafts, and wires
Administer the credit union’s 401(k) Plan
Negotiate vendor contracts
