Do You Belong Here?
Bronco Federal Credit Union (Franklin, VA) was chartered in July 1941 to serve the workers of the Chesapeake-Camp Corporation paper mill in Franklin, Virginia. Over the following decades, it grew into a full-service financial institution, opening membership to families, local employers, and eventually the broader community. More than 80 years later, Bronco’s goal is still simple: to be its members’ lifetime financial partner.
Today, Bronco is seeking a strategic, analytical, and collaborative leader to serve as its next Chief Financial Officer. This is a chance to protect and build on a legacy of stability and service, and to help shape the financial strategy that will carry Bronco through its next chapter. As the CFO, you will be responsible for financial leadership, fiscal integrity, and long-term financial sustainability.
This leader will oversee:
Accounting and finance
Budgeting and forecasting
Asset/liability management
Investments
Liquidity and capital planning
Financial reporting
Throughout this work, the CFO will ensure strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and sound stewardship of member assets.
Reporting to the President/CEO, the CFO will be a trusted advisor to the CEO, Board of Directors, and Executive Team on several areas, such as financial performance and balance sheet strategy.
Is Your Purpose Building Financial Strength?
The Chief Financial Officer will lead Bronco's financial strategy in alignment with its strategic plan, growth objectives, risk appetite, and commitment to safety and soundness.
A major focus of the role will be overseeing the accounting and finance functions. The CFO will make sure financial statements, NCUA Call Reports, and management reports are accurate, timely, and complete, and will maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting, cash management, wire activity, and reconciliations. Each month, the CFO will present financial reports, variance analysis, and key performance indicators to the President/CEO, Executive Team, Board, and committees.
This leader will also lead the annual budget process and build the forecasts, long-range plans, and scenario models that support strategic and capital planning, pricing decisions, and growth strategies. Through profitability analysis across products, branches, delivery channels, and member segments, the CFO will help guide where Bronco invests next.
The CFO will lead the asset/liability management function. That work includes interest rate risk analysis and ALCO reporting, along with oversight of liquidity and contingency funding, the investment portfolio, capital and net worth planning, and CECL methodology and reporting.
Beyond the numbers, the CFO will serve as a primary liaison with external auditors, promoting audit readiness and regulatory preparedness. They will lead, coach, and develop the Accounting/Finance team, and partner with IT, Operations, Lending, and Compliance on projects that affect financial reporting, data integrity, and payments. This leader will also look for ways to streamline processes, strengthen controls, improve reporting, and reduce manual work. They will represent Bronco at Board meetings, community events, and credit union system functions.
