As the Business Development Specialist, you will play a key role in driving membership growth and community engagement. You’ll build and maintain relationships with local businesses, schools, community organizations, and employer groups, serving as a brand ambassador for the credit union. This is an on-site position based in El Segundo, California, reporting to the Marketing Manager.
You’ll represent AFCU at events, coordinate outreach efforts, and lead initiatives such as on-site membership drives, presentations, and financial education workshops. Your ability to connect with people and communicate value will directly support membership growth and community impact. This role will also require periodic travel to other Aerospace Corporation locations across the country to support outreach efforts and strengthen organizational partnerships.
This role also blends hands-on marketing execution with strategic input. You’ll assist in planning and executing campaigns across digital, print, and in-branch channels, contribute to content creation for social media and communications, and help track performance to continuously improve results. You’ll also coordinate and support community events, managing logistics, promotions, and follow-up to maximize engagement and visibility.
Beyond outreach and marketing, you’ll develop a strong understanding of AFCU’s products and services, helping prospective members identify solutions that meet their needs. Your insights from the field – member feedback, community trends, and competitive observations – will help inform future strategies and initiatives.
Help Us Get to Know You
Candidates should bring at least three years of experience in marketing, business development, community outreach, or financial services. A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field is preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered.
The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and relationship builder who is comfortable representing an organization in the community. Experience with social media, digital marketing, or content creation will be highly valuable, along with the ability to manage multiple events and initiatives at once.
Success in this role requires initiative, organization, and a genuine passion for connecting with people. You should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, with the flexibility to engage in community events and outreach activities as needed. Credit union or financial services experience is a plus. Prior military experience, or familiarity with and exposure to military communities, is also highly valued. Bilingual Spanish skills are an added advantage.

The salary range for this position is $65,000–$90,000, commensurate with experience.
