The MD|DC Credit Union Association (the Association) is seeking a dynamic, self-driven professional to serve as its next Communications and Marketing Specialist. The Association is one of the nation’s leading trade associations dedicated to supporting credit unions and promoting their mission of empowering communities and improving the financial well-being of their members. The Communications and Marketing Specialist plays a vital role in shaping how the Association communicates with member credit unions, partners, and stakeholders. It is ideal for a strong individual contributor who thrives on executing projects independently and delivering high-quality communications.
Reporting to the executive leadership team, this role is responsible for developing and producing written and digital communications that support Association programs, events, advocacy initiatives, and member engagement efforts. The Communications and Marketing Specialist will synthesize information from multiple sources and translate it into clear, compelling messaging across newsletters, announcements, social media, event materials, and marketing campaigns.
This position requires a professional who can manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and operate with minimal direction while collaborating closely with colleagues across the organization. Occasional evening events are part of the role, offering opportunities to engage with member credit unions and support Association programming firsthand.
The ideal candidate enjoys storytelling, understands how to tailor messaging to different audiences, and takes pride in producing polished, effective communications that strengthen member engagement and organizational impact.

Are you a strong communicator who enjoys turning complex information into engaging, accessible content? Do you take pride in managing projects independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment? We are seeking candidates with approximately 3 years of professional experience in journalism, public relations, marketing, communications, or a related field. A background in writing-intensive roles is highly desirable, and candidates from outside the credit union industry are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will demonstrate exceptional writing and editing skills, strong organizational abilities, and a proven capacity to manage projects with minimal supervision.
This is an on-site position based in Columbia, Maryland, and candidates should be comfortable participating in occasional evening events connected to Association programming.

The salary range for this position is $60,000–$75,000 annually.
