Position Description

Are you a strong leader with a solid accounting and finance background looking to join a credit union on the move? Then this position is for you. The Tennessee Credit Union (TTCU) is looking for a Vice President of Accounting (VP) who will provide outstanding service to members by building and maintaining the credit union's accounting operations. The VP reports to the vice president of finance/chief financial officer and will lead all aspects of accounting, including, but not limited to, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, tax compliance, accounts payable, loan loss accounting, investment accounting, general ledger reconciliation, and analysis of financial accounts.

The VP will design and build out critical systems, policies, internal controls, and processes to support the business as it grows. The VP will also oversee and coordinate the preparation of monthly financial statements by collecting data from the core system and other sources and organizing data into reports. The VP manages financial reporting and information databases; they will develop ad hoc reports that support strategic planning, decision-making, and financial strategies. 

In this role, you will lead the preparation of monthly financial and Board reports and serve on committees as appointed. You will be a team builder for the accounting team and champion the recruitment, development, and retention of high-potential and high-performing individuals by coaching, mentoring, and providing feedback to team members. 

Top candidates will have strong analytical skills and proficiency in computerized systems, spreadsheet development, and databases. You must have strong presentation skills and forge strong relationships. Top candidates will have hands-on experience dealing with a variety of complex accounting issues and be able to present findings and recommendations. Candidates should be process-oriented and able to identify the need for process and control changes and work cross-functionally to drive and influence these changes. The ability to adapt quickly and operate effectively in a rapidly scaling, dynamic environment is a must.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a closely related field
  • Seven years of progressive accounting experience in credit unions, banks or financial industry
  • Project management expertise
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and technical research
  • CPA preferred but not required
