CUES Announces 2021 Individual Awards Winners and Hall of Fame Inductees

MADISON, Wis.— Talent development leader CUES is pleased to announce the winners of its annual individual awards and the class of 2021 Hall of Fame inductees. Winners were announced October 21, during the CUES Member Appreciation & Awards Event, sponsored by Experian North America, serving as Title Sponsor, and PSCU, serving as Engagement Sponsor. 

Notably, this year’s awards honor the first-ever recipient of the DEI: Catalyst for Change Award, which recognizes the highest level of achievement in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in the workplace. Honors went to Great Lakes Credit Union, led by CEO Steve Bugg. The credit union will receive a seat to attend the CUES and Cornell University Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Certificate Program, and be featured in Credit Union Management™ magazine and the CUES DEI Resource Center.

Thomas Ryan, President/CEO of Langley Federal Credit Union, was honored with the CUES Outstanding Chief Executive Award, based on his professional achievement, employee motivation and dedication to his community. 

Jennifer McHugh, Vice President-Community Engagement for Royal Credit Union, was named the 2021 CUES Exceptional Leader Award

Joan Nelson, Board Chair of Coastal Credit Union, received the CUES Distinguished Director Award, presented to a credit union board or committee member whose achievements have strengthened their credit union.

In addition, the 2021inductees into the CUES Hall of Fame were recognized for their contributions to the profession and the industry, involvement in community service, education and a history of self-improvement and contributions to CUES. This year’s inductees are Ed Bergen, President & CEO of Sunova Credit Union Limited; Tyrone Muse, President/CEO of Visions Federal Credit; and Kit Snyder, President/CEO of Consumers Credit Union.
