In 33 years at NCUA, Mark Treichel led the agency as Executive Director, Regional Director, Director of Special Actions, Supervisory Examiner, and Principal Examiner. His experience across every level of the agency provides him with a unique and comprehensive perspective on NCUA operations, decision-making, and priorities. Now in his fifth year of consulting, Mark and his team of former NCUA subject matter experts help credit unions navigate examinations, reduce risk, and save time and money. His firm has assisted 14% of credit unions by asset size and brings over 240 years of combined NCUA experience to the table. Mark also hosts two credit union-focused educational podcasts: With Flying Colors and Credit Union Regulatory Guidance. He will speak on managing the NCUA examination process, regulatory strategy, and how to turn "No" into "Yes."
John earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in 1990 and his Juris Doctorate, high honors, in 1994 from The Florida State University. He has spent more than 20 years representing credit unions in compliance, mergers, contracts, and regulatory matters. John is also a nationally recognized speaker on credit union legal and operational issues. He will provide Board and Supervisory Committee training on Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, and regulatory compliance trends.
Trey holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from Georgia Tech and a Master of Science in Finance from Georgia State University. He leads the Strategic Balance Sheet Management Department at Corporate America Credit Union, where he provides ALM, liquidity solutions, and interest rate risk strategies to member institutions. Trey brings over 20 years of balance sheet management experience from both corporate credit unions and regional banks. His session will provide actionable balance sheet insights for today’s economic environment.
Michael is the Chief Executive Officer of Olden Lane and a seasoned expert in structured finance, regulatory policy, and financial innovation. Prior to Olden Lane, he served as a Managing Director at Equinox Financial Solutions and as a law professor focused on financial reform and risk-based capital. Michael holds a J.D. from NYU School of Law, an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School, and an A.B. from the College of the Holy Cross. He will provide insights on capital planning, secondary capital, and emerging strategies for credit union balance sheet optimization.
Todd enjoyed a 34-year career with the NCUA, retiring in 2021. Originally hired as an examiner, Todd’s career spanned various roles including Examiner, Problem Case Officer, Regional Capital Market Specialist, and Director of Special actions. He spent the years 2000-2010 as a Regional Capital Market Specialists. The last 10 years of his career was spent as a Director of Special Actions in the Western Region where he supervised Problem Case Officers, Regional Capital Market Specialists, and Regional Lending Specialists.
In his roles, Todd has extensive experience with large complex credit unions, troubled credit unions, mergers, liquidations, NCUA’s special assistance, and conservatorships. He has been involved and supervised numerous conservatorship actions including the return of two conserved credit unions to the members.
With a 32-year career at the NCUA, Steve held a variety of influential roles, contributing to major regulatory initiatives and high-level supervisory efforts across the country. His tenure included serving as Vice President of the Central Liquidity Facility and as a Loss Risk Analysis Officer in the Office of Examination and Insurance, where he managed key projects such as the 2015 proposed rule on risk-based capital and played a critical role in the development of the corporate credit resolution program.
Throughout his career, Steve was involved in complex resolution efforts, including conservatorships, capital support, and supervisory guidance. He also served as a Problem Case Officer and Director of Special Actions, where he was responsible for overseeing the supervision and resolution of troubled credit unions in the region.
Since retiring from the NCUA in 2018, Steve has remained active in the industry, serving as CFO for a large NCUA conservatorship and providing consulting services related to strategic planning, regulatory communication, and subordinated debt applications.
