CUES School of Business Lending is one of our longest-standing professional development offerings. This school was created and is facilitated by the same experts who train the state and federal examiners, so you’ll learn all the ins and outs of business lending—including smart practices, how to set up your program for maximum profitability, and potential downfalls to avoid.
Over the course of 30 weeks, you’ll learn from a combination of self-paced courses and case studies, eight live Zoom classes, and discussion boards as we cover:
- Accounting basics
- Price/cost/volume analysis
- Capital budgeting techniques
- Tax return analysis
- Balance sheet, income statement and cash flow analysis and projections
- Industry sector risks
- Growth and management strategies

Program Details
This high-level, intensive business lending course is designed to fit easily into your schedule. Highlights include:
- Program Length. CUES School of Business Lending runs from April 4-October 30, 2022.
- Time Commitment. Plan on spending 10 hours each week on the course. We’ll be using the NovoED learning management system, which allows you to see estimated time spans for each learning section.
- Process. The curriculum includes due dates to keep everyone on schedule. Attendees will work through each section at their own pace, completing the learning modules to prepare for eight live sessions with instructors Jim Devine and Bob Hogan.
- Live Sessions. Dates for the eight live Zoom sessions are posted in the Agenda tab; all are scheduled from 1:00–2:00 p.m. CST. Live sessions will be recorded and available in NovoEd shortly after the meeting date.
- Assessments. Knowledge checks, quizzes, case studies and discussions will help ensure participants understand the lessons.
- COVID-Safe Learning Modalities. You will learn together with your class, but each student will receive their own login and participate from their own remote location.

You’ll discover the logic and structure of financial statements, including Balance Sheets, Income Statements, and Statements of Cash Flow.
