Presenter: Amy Hirsh Robinson, MBA, Principal, Interchange Consulting Group
In many organizations, the term “succession planning” is so loaded that it prevents people from engaging in effective dialog about the future needs of the business and the talent available to meet those needs. Among current executives, and especially during time like this of unprecedented change, succession planning invokes fear that their skills and experiences are no longer relevant. Among employees hungry for more development and mobility, succession planning is viewed as a “black box,” lacking in transparency and reeking of favoritism. Let’s be honest, most succession planning initiatives are met with skepticism, cynicism, and even sabotage. They have become check-the-box exercises or are avoided all-together, preventing companies from critically assessing talent and planning adequately for the future.
Join this session for a candid discussion on succession planning and what strategies will successfully engage senior management during this new normal of business and meet the evolving leadership development needs of employees and organizations alike.

Whole industries are being upended by nimbler, customer-focused tech companies. Credit unions are not immune. In fact, credit unions are facing the greatest existential threat since Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen and Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch pioneered the first true credit unions in Germany in the 1850s. The best way to face that threat is through innovation. The good news, is that innovation is open to anyone that chooses to adopt it. You just need a framework to get started. In this practical session you will learn all you need to kick-start innovation in your credit union.

Presenter: Dr. Christine Allen, Ph.D.
Communication matters in business. The ability to get your message across in a powerful way and to make a connection with others is key to business and leadership success. While there is controversy over the topic of gender differences in communication, overall the data and everyday observations show that the different ways women and men communicate are real and can have a significant impact on women's success.
There are many ways women continue to have challenges in achieving the highest levels of leadership, despite their talents and capabilities. While organizations need to continue to address systemic issues in gender discrimination and bias, there are things that individual women leaders can do to be more effective.
In this workshop, we will explore the ways women are given mixed messages about how to communicate and held to different standards. We will also discuss what power individual women have to leverage their unique strengths and communication styles to become more effective leaders.
